The Working Group was formed to perform and complete a research study in 1998. The goal of the study was to develop information to assist the criminal justice agencies in reducing repeated domestic violence. The study reviewed agency written procedures and all police incident reports written during March 1999 that involved domestic violence. The study tracked the results of cases and offenders both prior to and following the incident report, identified "high impact" offenders, and made recommendations regarding areas to improve the response to incidents of domestic violence. The Report "An
Evaluation of the Multnomah County Criminal Justice Response to Intimate
Partner Violence", highlights the efforts on the part of
each justice agency and the areas where improvements are needed. The Report allows readers
to understand and evaluate what happened at each step in the justice system.
